What a great first day of school! I loved meeting all of my students!!
Today the students jumped right in and shared their knowledge of the words- inference/inferencing/infer/inferring. They connected the skill of inferencing to Science, History, real life and reading. Working together in groups, they were asked to “read” our classroom and make inferences about me, by what they saw in the room. They were challenged to think critically and back up their answers using evidence in the room. The kids all did a great job working together and forming intelligent inferences. Just a few examples of what was inferred; I am positive. I like nature, I love words and reading, I like the color blue, and I’m organized. Not only was it fun, it was great practice. This year they will be having to cite evidence they find in various texts when they are writing short answer responses.
If you’re a parent reading this, be sure to ask them what they learned about their new teacher by “reading” the room.
Below are pictures of the our classroom. It’s going to be a great year at the Trail!
